EVENT DETAILS
WHEN: Sunday, October 6, 2024. Race start is at 9:00am. Arrival to start line no later than 8:30am.
WHERE: Start line is at Prairie Blvd Park in Dakota Dunes, SD 57049. Finish line will be in the parking lot near the Dakota Dunes Dog Park.
TRANSPORTATION: There will be no parking near the event start line. If you are driving to the event, please drive to the SYA Softball Fields at 1001 Riverside Blvd, Sioux City, IA 51109. From there, you will take a shuttle bus to the race start line. After the race, shuttle buses will bring you back to the SYA parking lot. You are welcome to also be dropped off at the event (cars can come up to the event start line area, they just are not permitted to park), or to walk/cycle to the event (you are responsible for your personal property, e.g. a bicycle).
SHUTTLE TIMES: Everyone needs to be at the start line no later than 8:30am. Shuttles will depart the SYA parking lot starting at 7:00am, and will run every 15 minutes. The last shuttle will depart SYA for the start line at 8:15am. It is highly recommended that you arrive for the earliest possible shuttle, so that you get a seat in case of shuttle overflow, and also so that you can pick up your bib and be ready at the start line in time. If you arrive early, there will be space to warm up, stretch, pre-race entertainment and music, and access to bathrooms. If you arrive late and miss the shuttles, you will need to find your own transportation to the start line. Everyone needs to be at the start line no later than 8:30am to make sure that you pick up your bib and are ready on time for 9am.
BIB PICKUP: When you arrive at the start line area, you will pick up your assigned bib number with safety pins. Your bib includes a tracking device that will track your race time and pace.
T-Shirts: We are providing an option for you to waive your t-shirt as a way to donate back to the organization. If you would like to waive your t-shirt option, please select this when registering. Otherwise, you will receive a t-shirt of your selected size on the morning of the race. Due to the time that it takes to process t-shirt orders, you must register by September 25th to be guaranteed a t-shirt on race day. All registrants after this date may not receive a shirt.
PACING, WAVES, & CORRALS: We will not have corrals, waves, or separate start guns for this year’s race. Everyone will start at the same time, with the gun going off after the national anthem at 9:00am. We ask that if you plan to walk the race, please stay toward the back of the crowd to allow the runners to go first when the gun goes off.
AMENITIES: There will be restrooms available along the race course and at the start/finish lines. On-site medics and medical aid will be available, as well as emergency protocols in place in the event of a medical emergency. We will provide refueling stations (water/gatorade/snacks) and a finisher bag at the end of the race to help you rehydrate and refuel. You will be provided a t-shirt based on your size selected on your registration form. Please be aware that all personal belongings are your responsibility. There will be no bag check at the start line.
